High Carbon Ferrochrome (HC FeCr) is an essential alloy in steel production, known for its significant contribution to the steel’s hardenability, wear resistance, and hardness. It typically contains 50-65% chromium and 4-8% carbon, making it a key component in various steel types, including stainless steel, which relies on chromium for its corrosion resistance and appearance.

Advantages in the Industry : An irreplaceable constituent in all stainless steels, providing corrosion and oxidation resistance, wear resistance, and maintaining strength at high temperatures.

Composition & Classification

+ Essential Components: Composed of chromium, iron, carbon, and traces of impurities like silicon, phosphorus, and sulphur.

   – HcFeCr 60 : Minimum of 60% chromium, max 8% carbon.

   – HcFeCr 65 : Minimum of 65% chromium, with controlled levels of carbon and other elements.

+ Broad Classification: Part of a larger group of ferrochromium, including medium, low, and micro carbon variations, each designed for specific applications.
